Engine spray paint

Post by groundhog » Sat Jul 27, 2013 7:36 pm

For silver engined owners If you are looking for a good spray paint to refresh and smarten up engine fins, crankcases etc I would recommend Halfords 'Very High Temperature Aluminium' spray. It matches the colour of the engine perfectly and as you can guess from the name it can stand the heat ! Can't remember the price as I bought it ages ago but I think its seven or eight quid. Just done what I could get to without taking of the headers and it looks like new ! I'm generally rubbish at spraying but found it really nice to use. Just remember to use plenty of masking tape !! Will do the rest as a winter job.

I have used this before and it does look good - the only drawback was the corrosion under the paint came back through after a couple of months - you need to paint some gel-type oxidiser on to kill off the corrosion -then wash off and the spray coat should last longer

I and a lot of others have used this stuff .https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/113701184529
Best applied using a quality (artists) brush and stipple it on. 250ml

250 ml tin will do many engines

Good match just needs to be heat cycled a few times to harden it off fully.
SO MANY LAMPOSTS...........so little time . . . . STUPID PLACE TO PUT A WALL WASNT IT !!!!!
OH DEER !!!!
