RTW ---

Post by givitsum » Mon Oct 12, 2009 4:41 pm

Round the world - so far I have only dreamt about doing it and dwelt on reasons why I shouldn't - now I am following the story of a young lad from Croatia with the same bike I have who got off his arse and just did it 8)

With sights like this on the way across Russia ---

You can find the story here - http://www.motori.hr

The thread is --- Oko svijeta 2009 - miija mira i slobode --- I think :D

Not sure how I get in - when I try to givu the full link it doesn't work

Oh - it's all in Croat lingo - have fun

PS. If nothing else http://www.motori.hr can show us what can be done by flogging a bit of advertising space.

Had an e-mail from Putnik - he has his own blog at http://www.putnik-horizont.com

He hasn't written up his RTW trip on there yet - he is another guy who intends to write a book about his travels :D Some good stuff about a trip to the Nord Kapp on his Tenere tho' - little wonder he has clocked over 63000kms on that bike in 14 months - it should be just about run in :D

Stuff there about India & Nepal too - doesn't matter if you can't read Croat - his pics tell the story

Sumwun loads even more onto his bike than I do --- a BMW 800GS is lurking under that heap of gear :D These look like Pelican cases - about 48 litre capacity each at a guess.

I have two 30 litre side panniers and an 80 litre Base camp bag which straps across the top. My tent straps on top of the base camp bag if I am running out of room on the Tenere.

By the time I get really serious I will have a much smaller - easy to erect tent and will have found a suitable tank bag - I do miss it's usefulness for odds & sods that I currently shove in my pockets - my Cruise suit jacket is heavy enough on it's own and with the pockets full it is even more so.
