Scottish XJR Riders

Post by johnm63 » Tue Jan 31, 2017 10:29 pm

I was heartened to see from the replies to my "new member" post that there were a few active members up here in Scotland. East Kilbride & South Lanarkshire were mentioned. I''m based in Ayr but I work in Motherwell (& sometimes Coatbridge & Cumbernauld) so I'm up in EK, South & North Lanarkshire & Glasgow most days. I wondered if there were ever any club meets or ride outs?

Cheers,
John.

Start one John  pick a good cafe or meeting point, flag it up on site and see what response you get. Have a chat with Harris from the south west he started a meet a while ago and it is very popular.

hi john, go for it! flag it up and see what interest you get as lampy says. cant hurt. picking a good cafe thats fairly central to your members is a good start , breakfast , chat etc. rideouts can be a difficult subject as someone will always be going further from home, our guys make the journey to the cafe the rideout. you can always come to ours john , am only about 500 miles from you haha.

Morning.. I'm in Edinburgh and just picked up my first XJR1300 last Friday (02), after a 6yr biking hiatus..Also found out a friends other half has the same bike, same year, so we'll be up for a cafe meet...might have to wait for it to stop snowing first though

Fine day up this way. Bit windy and cold but no snow. Good to get a Scottish thing going. Some of us did meet up at Perth bike night a few years ago.

So looking at where everyone is, somewhere like Callander is about 90 mins from both Ayr & Brechin, and about an hour from Edinburgh & Glasgow, hows that sound? As for when....there's Easter coming up, how about some point over the long weekend, any preferences?

You have to keep plugging away mate. Best thing to do is pick a cafe that's to your liking, pick a time and date ( we do the second Sunday of every month) advertise it on the site then just turn up. You might be Billy no mates for a while but at least you'll be fed and watered. Eventually somebody will rock up or you might find xjr riders who aren't in the club wander past and drop in. Stick with it, it's worked for us in the south west
My other ride is a doubledecker bus

OK French Eric I will give it another throw of the dice; Is there anyone else going or up forgoing to Albawest,Custom Bike Show starting on the 23rd of this month at Stevenson ,Ayrshire or to The Bulldog Bash ,Shakespeare County Raceway,Long Marston by Stratford Upon Avon, starting Aug 10th??. The Bulldog Bash is my main annual trip down South and is the best of craic. Some Scots XJR's would be braw company at either event. If there is any interest let it be known here and we can maybe meet up first and discuss further.I am going to both these top class events anyway. :respekt:
