Forum Guidelines

The Administrators and Moderators are entrusted with maintaining this forum for the benefit of all users. The following rules are intended to guide both the members and the Administrators and Moderators. The final decision about any doubtful material and the appropriate sanctions rests with the Administrators and Moderators. If a user feels that an Administrator or Moderator has not applied the rules correctly they may contact another Administrator or Moderator privately to request they review the decision, this is the only action available to users.

XJROC Officers will not be involved in the forum administration unless an Administrator or Moderator requests their intervention. Officers may bring inappropriate posts to the attention of Administrators or Moderators, as may any user.

These guidelines supersede any other rules currently in force that pre-date the posting date of these guidelines. This includes the conditions agreed to by members on registration. Posting on this forum constitutes implicit agreement to the terms and conditions of these guidelines.

When an Administrator or Moderator edits a post, avatar or signature, they will insert the following in place of the deleted text:

Trolling
This is a well-documented Internet phenomenon where a user disrupts a forum, most often by taking several threads off their original topic to discuss other matters, often a perceived grievance. As an indicator; any users that takes 2 or more threads off topic will be considered to be Trolling.
Abuse
Abuse is, by its very nature, subjective. Any post or PM that puts a negative value on any individual, social group, religious group or ethnic group is to be considered as potentially abusive. A user may contact an Administrator or Moderator to highlight an abusive post or PM. If that post or PM could be construed as pertaining to the contacting user, then the Administrator or Moderator is to treat that post or PM as abusive. If the post or PM is about a third party, then the Administrator or Moderator must judge if any individual or group is abused.
Bullying
Bullying is defined as negative posts or PMs that are made in response to a users initial post or PM. Bullying must be identified in context, as opposed to banter and robust humour. Bullying will usually be identified when one user continuously posts negative comments in response to another user. A user may contact an Administrator or Moderator to highlight a Bullying post or PM.
Banter
Administrators and Moderators will take care to differentiate between Banter and Abuse or Bullying. If the Administrator or Moderator is not sure that a dialogue is friendly, then they will make efforts to contact the parties concerned before taking action. The final decisions and actions are at the Administrators or Moderators discretion.
Reporting
Users may report Inappropriate Posts by using PMs, the Report function on each post, email or a telephone call. The Administrator or Moderator receiving the report is to initiate action, including raising or annotation a “log thread” in the Administrators and Moderators section. If the Administrator or Moderator feels that the post is Inappropriate, then they will note that decision and initiate Sanctions. The Administrator or Moderator will always contact the reporting user by PM to inform them of the decision, and annotate the “log thread” accordingly.
Sanctions

Warning

The following PM will be sent to the user.

Quote:
PM Title:
Warning

PM Text:
In the thread “thread title” your post quote post in full is inappropriate.

This is a Warning, as defined in the forum rules.

You may PM an Administrator or Moderator to discuss. Please read the forum guidelines.

A single Administrator or Moderator may issue warnings. The Administrator or Moderator is to raise or annotate a “log thread” in the Administrators and Moderators section. This “log thread” must include the deleted content.
Sin Bin
Each Sin Bin will be recorded in a Sin Bin log. A ‘stay’ in the Sin Bin may be issued by a single Administrator or Moderator and can last from a minimum of 24 hours up to 1 year. The Administrator or Moderator is to raise or annotate a “log thread” in the Administrator and Moderator section. This “log thread” must include the deleted content.

Banned
Sin Bins are the preferred method of indication to a user that their posts are Inappropriate. There may be an occasion where the Administrators or Moderators feel that Sin Bins are insufficient Sanction for Inappropriate Posts, usually when it is felt that the user will not restrain their post content or when their actions are construed as “gross misconduct”. When a user is banned the account will immediately be frozen and the following email will be sent to the user through the address recorded in the account profile.

Quote:

Email Title:
XJROC Suspended

Email Text:
Your behaviour on the forum is considered Inappropriate.

Your account account name on the XJROC Forum has been suspended pending investigation.

You will be notified of the final decision within 14 days.

You may email sinbin@yamaha-xjr-ownersclub.co.uk

Banned may be initiated by a single Administrator or Moderator. The Administrator or Moderator is to raise or annotate a “log thread” in the Administrators and Moderators section. This “log thread” must include the deleted content.

Within 14 days, 2 other Administrators or Moderators are to review the findings of the initiating Administrator or Moderator. It is the responsibility of the initiating Administrator or Moderator to co-ordinate the review.

If the final decision is that the user be denied further access to the forum then the account will be frozen and the following email will be sent to the user through the address recorded in the account profile.

Note: the Ban is from the forum but not the club.

If the final decision is that the user be issued a Warning or a Sin Bin, then the appropriate action is to be executed.

In exception to this rule;
1. If the Administrator or Moderator identifies that an account is less than one month old, then the account may be immediately frozen with no further actions necessary.
2. If it can be clearly ascertained that the account has been generated by a previously Banned user, then the account may be immediately frozen with no further actions necessary.
