Just let her cool a while, if still not starting look at fuel, air, spark.
Try the fuel tap on prime to eliminate fuel starvation, then move onto plugs etc.

Been riding for 10 hours with stops could it be that the battery is knackered? On trying to start I get no turning on the engine just a single click each time ignition is pressed. Will give it a while to cool down and try jumping it. Feck sakes

You would need a multi meter to prove the charging rate of the altenator when it was up and running.
Old school, ignition on, 2nd gear get her bumped off turn off lights and any other shite that's connected.

That indictes low or lost voltage by the single click of the starter relay.

Dirty or loose terminals, bad battery are two of the most obvious places to start.

Found a hill and bumped her. Seems all good the remaining 12 miles to our campsite.

It's a brand new moto batt so shouldn't be a problem. Will check when we are home. 262 miles lights and USB charging the navsat possibly not keeping the charge?

Hopefully make it to Loch Ness tomorrow. Where we are due in a garage anyway for some supplies. Thanks again guys. Great help

I had a problem with the connection to the starter motor. Took apart cleaned and put the washers back in the correct order and no problem since.

Do you have a alarm or immobiliser fitted? Do the idiot lights and headlight come on when you turn on the ignition?

All the idiot lights come on as does the headlight. We made it as far as Carlisle and it's given up again.

have you tried shorting across the starter solenoid under the seat to start it, solenoids have failed before so they click but don't make the circuit.
Ignition on and a bit of thick wire will do it.

What's that across the two contacts?

Checked the starter motor and it's kicking out a current so rac chap believes the solinoid is OK as if it wasn't the current wouldn't reach the starter?

Once we took it apart and cleaned the bushes it started
